"Let's not forget Earth Shoes". The rockers used to buy
 them at  Tom McCann's of HP's Pacific Blvd.  Brown was
 the specialty  color shoe worn with Levis jeans, long
 sleeved plaid shirts with  sleeves folded up and 
Levis jacket.  Plus your hair had to be  sliced down 
the middle and feathered back.

Fighting against the Toxic Waste Incenerator slated to be built less than 500 ft away from
 HPHS.. helped change state legislation as to require  all toxic waste incinerator proposals
 to adhere to Environmental Impact  Reviews. Can't believe it wasn't the law before. The
 Community WON this first environmental justice victory! No incinerator was built.

The marching band from 82-85 was the best ever!!

Marching Band Car Wash Next to A&W Burgers off of State & Florence. We all got wet and fun
 that day . We had a band fund so the school can buy new uniforms for the Band .Our work paid off and the school got new uniforms with our help.
Thank You Mr.Dorothy for putting up with all of us. No more shutting off the lights in the band room. We were the Best Marching Band HP ever had .
The Band also had a football team .They were the (Band Wizards ).

Surviving all the construction around Stockton  court. They even made
T-shirts that said "surviving construction" in 87 or 88

Being a student worker in the student store and some of the most popular snacks were nacho cheese doritos, Snikers bar and Hershey's almond chocolate bar. Abba Zabbas  and Chico sticks were also pretty popular

Mickey Mouse heart shaped lolly pops which the girls liked to use to bring out the color on their lips around valentines. Also during valentines, we used to have candy grams 
delivered to our classes. That was awesome.

Ruffled socks with high heels were one of the most awful and popular fashions

Girl's pants were so tight that they had to have zippers on the ankles in order to get them through your feet. Bubble gum pants were one of the first stretchable jeans available and speedos with a long tee-shirt tied on one side were my favorite.

Every time we had a Sub Teacher, we would turn off all the lights in the Band Room 
and it would be completely dark. The whole  room would go crazy. Students were 
yelling and screaming and the funniest of all, you would hear the chairs flying by 
and the  piano roll across the room. Keep in mind all this going on while the room is 
completely dark. Those were the crazy days!!!!!!!

The neon yellow or white sweatshirts that had "WHAM" 
or "GO-GO" in reference to George Michael and the group
 WHAM *giggle* (those were fun days...
Mrs. Razzo forfeiting the girls track team meet against Jordan High School tall fast skinny ferocious girls track team OOOHH! and when the FILA sweaters came out, EVERYBODY had on a FILA
 sweater matched with FILA tennis shoes and those who knew how to make
 them...a FILA friendship bracelet!

 experience, omg! now that was a trip! wish I could go back. oh and hiding from Mr. Garcia
 the principal as he chased other students around the block! go Spartans!
HEARTS BURGERS!!!
The marching bands famous Duck walk on the the field at half Time  QUACK! The out of control marching band , class of 85-88. when we had a sub we would  turn off the lights and throw things across the room. Then the sub would run out of  the room screaming and yelling, and shortly be replaced by the principle.............  heheheh.......... those were the days!!!!

What about the five and dime stores like Woolworth's on the corner of Zoe and Pacific or Kress Dept. Store on Pacific Blvd.  Those were kind of neat to browse. What ever happened to awesome Ms. McIntyre (dance teacher), Ms. Barbara Barnett (AP English teacher '87) or Ms. Cear (Math teacher Ms. Barnett's best friend)?
